I would like to order a 2008 Viper convertible with the lighter weight Sidewinder rims (the ones that came stock on the 2005 Copperhehad edition).

From preliminary reports, it appears that 2008 Vipers will only be available with the standard five-spokes (the 2006 First Edition wheel), the H-spokes or the new Razor-style wheel. Is there a way to get the factory to install the Copperhead wheel?

If not, my assumption is that the next option is to arrange for a swap of the wheels at the dealer. My plan was to contact Jon B at PartsRack to order a set of Sidewinder wheels with the new PS2 tires mounted and have the dealer send the stock 5-spoke wheels and tires to Jon for an exchange. For those of you that have done this with Jon B (or any Dodge dealer), what kind of bottom-line cost did this entail?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Now THAT'S what I call ADVANCE PLANNING. Thank you for thinking of PartsRack.

First answer: NO WAY. It would actually be a federal violation of some sort.

2nd answer: Depends on which wheels eventually comes on YOUR '08, and when.
Hypothetical: If you did the deal TODAY with 06 premium wheels, (not boat-anchor 10-spokes) there might be no cost to you except shipping.

There are threads with pics that show the difference. Basically Sidewinders only Came on a 05 Copperhead and they are the only Gen 3 wheel with a lip.

Thanks everyone for posting.

Jon B -- assuming that having the sidewinders installed at the factory is a no go, my plan was to order the 2008 convertible with the 5-spoke wheels (the same ones on your 2006 First Edition) and then order the sidewinders mounted with PS2s through you and swap them at our local dealer before I pick up the car. Are you saying that as of today there would be an equal value exchange (other than shipping costs to the local dealer) for the five-spokes and the sidewinders? Thanks in advance for the clarification.
