Has anyone installed an Exhaust cutout on their Vipers? For those who don't know, an exhaust cutout is bolted where your headers end and the rest of your pipes begin. When you want to race, go fast, etc...you pull a cord, unscrew wingnuts (however is it cut out), and you essentially have a straight pipe.....

Anyone tried it? Jegs sells a couple of models of them...the work for pipes from 2" to 3.5"

Well, I did try a straight exhaust on my GTS. It sounded like crap, shot flames (OK, that was cool), set check engine lights, stunk, and made the car run funny (probably due to check engine light). Was it faster? Yep, when it ran right. Did it run cooler? Yep. Cooler side sills? **** yes! Was is worth a few extra horses compared to high-flow cats? NOPE...

I don't think it would work due to the fact the second O2 sensor is not going to get anything to sniff and will cause the car to run bad (probaly check engine also). Hey onerareviper, was there any kind of muffler? Or was it just straight pipe period.

Yes. I had no cats with the 2.5 Corsa. Sounded like crap at idle - 3,000. 3,000 RPM and up started to sound good, 4,500 RPM to redline, sounded great. All the above problems in my previous post.

At this point, I decided to add Sean Roe's oval high-flow cats. WOW!!! Sounded great from idle-redline. Was very surprised the cats effected the sound so much - was very pleased. The ONLY negative I can think of was hotter side sills (than no cats, but slightly cooler than stock). Well worth the $250 dollar investment. Not to mention no check engine light, no engine surge, didn't run rich, and no stincky exhaust.
