I realize there are a ton of these questions on this site but have searched and searched for weeks in trying to decide which exhaust system to go with. There are some sound clips here and there but still not much. I have a paxton with 3.55 gears and a stock exhaust. I have narrowed it down to 3. Full belanger system. Full billy boat system with step down headers; and corsa track with bb headers.
Everybody says the belanger is crazy loud but I hear a clip and it sound bad ass. I still have not heard a full billy boat so if anyone has one with a sound bite that would be awesome.
I do drive the car a lot as my daily driver in good weather. I want it sound noticeably louder than stock. I have long tube headers with 3in full system no cats and flowmaster 44's on my Nova and I love the way it sounds. Any help would be appreciated.

Js, if you like it loud with more power you are gonna love the sound from BB and a Corsa 3" cat back system. Racing cats will help it run a lot better too. Breathing is important for a large displacement engine. Be sure you like it loud though. graphite

I really want it to sound aggressive! I had glass packs on my nova at one time and that was loud but sounded like ****. I am looking for the deepest exhaust sound.

Jsparks,

I have said it before but need to remind you that if you have the stock Paxton setup and want this type of exhaust you will NEED to upgrade the fuel system to handle the extra air. The car will be WAY too lean in the stock setup and the FMU will not be able to compensate for it. The headers and exhaust will sound bad *** though. Jst be prepared for additional changes.

I have stock headers and Corsa track. I have some videos of my car running at the track and the last idling in my garage. Pretty loud without headers. I havbe heard headers will make it even louder.

Nice videos and love the sound Nader. Is your setup with or without High Flo Cats? Would high flo cats make a difference at that point sound wise?

No sound clip, but we have B&B Stepped Headers w/Corsa Track Exhaust-hi-flow cats. LOVE the sound...when car is started in garage, the walls of house shake...do you want it that loud? We are black-flagged from the track as we exceed the decibels...we LOVE it!
Good Luck in your decision....so many variations and decisions!! ~juli

Where are you located?? I have the full Belangers exhaust minus cats...It is very loud at WOT. I had the Corsa track exhaust w/RT metal substrate cats before I installed the Belangers. With the Corsa it was loud but had a metallic ring to it. It now has a louder, deeper, throatier sound. Just what I was looking for...Sorry I do not have a descent sound clip. Clips never sound the same. Try to find someone close to you so you can hear the different set-ups in person. I think the Belangers aluminized metal will give you the deepest tone. Any stainless exhaust will have a higher pitch.

You may have already found this but here is something I posted on Youtube a while ago. Tihs car is a 2003 Viper with a Paxton and the full Belanger system (headers and exhaust):

www.youtube.com/results?search_query=belanger+header&search=Search

After hearing this car in person, I decided on the full Belanger system for my 2008. The exhaust had a nice, deep "lumpy" rumble to it that has come the closest in my opinion to the sound of a big block V-8 chevy or ford from the heyday of the musclecar era (not quite the same of course since we are dealing with a V-10).

Have fun with your research.

Wow you know you got sound when you get black-flagged from the track. That has to be the best way I heard someone explain the way it sounds "when car is starated in garage, the walls of the house shake". That is totally cool. What decibels are you at with your combo? Thanks

I actually don't know what the decibels are...nor what the track considers 'over decibels'...sorry! Maybe someone else can chime in if they know what a track (specifically Lime Rock in CT) has for decibel level? It's a strange track...was there before people started building houses and a church, where a race actually had to FULLY STOP during a wedding procession? Unheard of!! This track allows only, I believe, 4 full races, no decibel limitation, I believe...during the YEAR!!! (I could be off on the amount of races, I didn't fully hear what the officials said)...so that's probably NOT typical of all tracks.
Bottom line: We love our sound~~~BADASP!!! ~juli

Just heard the clip and I gotta tell you that it sounds pretty close the the real thing. I have the full belanger system as well. Great sounds very happy with it other then the issues with the 02 sensors.

I know the paxton comes with an upgraded fuel system. I am going to have it dyno tuned when they put the exhaust on. The shop I am working with tells me they can configure the stand alone timing and computer system that comes with the paxton kit to compensate for the exhaust... are they full of ****?? They have done a few specialty builds with paxton and tell me they will have no problem adjusting the curves.

You should hear one in person under different throttle levels.

Where are you located?

What kind of motor work did you do to get to 925rwhp? that is right where I want to be

I have a build priced out threw a local engine building shop. (Big3 performance) There shop is right down the road from me and I have seen some of their engine builds. They did a real nice 06 vette that put 670rwhp N/A. They have also done a ton of Mustangs putting down over 600rwhp as well. I decided to get the paxton and exhaust done this year and probably do the motor build next year

you want B&B headers with a corsa track.

also Bellanger headers or M&M headers (if you get your hands on them they are half the price) will give you a little more of that GTS type sound

The full B&B system wont damage your ears...the other setups will shave a few years off your hearing.;)

I chose what Dodge chose for the 08 after an extra ordinary amount of testing.......the ONLY headers that "held up" through all the torture were Belangers! I have the full Belangers, with Dynomax racing mufflers, and the deep throaty sound is awesome, not so loud that you can't carry on a conversation unless under full throttle.......then you don't want to talk, you have to pay attention......I have Paxton and 3:55's also.......

Jsparks,

I have the full B & B system, stepped headers, crossovers, h/f cats on my SRT-10. It's not wicked loud, in fact it's the best high performance "realtively quiet", drone free exhaust system I've found.

I've tried the others and they are all louder. If you just want obnoxious loud, get the Belangers and go out the side. Many like this, I don't.

On the 925 rwhp, it's a fully forged engine built by Exotic Engine. It includes Stryker heads, the exhaust system noted above, blower cam, 11.5 psi peak boost Paxton and too many other mods to list. If I were to offer you one great piece of advice, dont' fool around with engine builders that don't have experience with Viper. Call Kevin at Exotic and have him build your engine. Kevin builds Viper race engines. If not Kevin, at least call another Viper engine builder. Others on this site have tried small shops that build V-8's without much luck and then you get to pay twice.

Good luck,

Dan:usa:

I guess I am glad to hear the exhaust won't be too loud. I did go without the cats though.

I will preface the following by saying there are many great engine builders who participate in this forum and there advise would be greatly appreciated. I have built engines in the past and without being berated with platitudes I would be interest in somebody explaining to me why an experienced engine builder would not have the ability to work on vipers. Is it not a pushrod engine with a few extra cylinders. I had only worked on chevy motors until I pick up a Trans Am. I was able to put heads and a cam in it without a problem. What is it technically that makes them so special? This particular shop has built numerous 800plus hp cars. They design and build fully custom engines and work on a lot of late model vehicles. I almost feel arrogant in thinking they would not be capable of this build.

Engine building mistakes on a small black chevy won't cost NEAR the $$$ on our V10. I could get my heads done sooo cheap by a local speed shop, but when the time comes it's either JM or Greg Good. It's the experience and knowledge that a well known viper specialists can give you. Would you have Maaco re-paint you car?

It's hard to do all things well. There are just too many different things about a Viper engine to use someone who has little or no experience building them.

Talk to Kai. He went this route and lost almost a year of driving his car. I'm sure there are others.

Do as you will - no disrespect - just trying to help.

Absolutely none taken and I appreciate all the help I can get! I guess I am sort of playing devils advocate. I would understand a lot better if there were technical differences between to two. Coming from a somewhat experienced background I the research I have done don't see it. Now a 2stroke to 4stroke, rotary engine to 4 stroke.....that I see. But V6, v8, V10 are fundamentally the same engine.

Once again I am not trying to start an arguement I am just really trying to find out for my own sake and interests.

Thanks again
