Experience with aftermarket knock sensors?

Wondering if anyone has used the MSD Knock Alert or similar type of aftermarket stand-alone knock sensor to aid in tuning a boosted application. I know that the AEM controller has the ability to add knock sensor capability, but I am not running the AEM unit, so I am looking for a standalone unit. Any recommendations?

DLM uses one, but i dont know which one... i know i can use it if i wanted it so its compatible with a split second or at the least stand alone (which is what i assume it is)

I use this and really like it. Just get some noise cancellation headset to be able to hear on the dyno.

A standalone unit for detection would be good. A unit to dial out timing would be better but may not be realistic or even practical.
