On the bright side they accepted responsibility in writing. They said they moved it to a RAMP (BIG FRIGGIN DOH!) because they needed the room. It was only in there because I had a blowout and they were the only place open and I had them order me a tire and lokk at the AC. They crashed it so hard that when I drove it home, the alignment was so bad it almost caused me to spin out due to overcompensating of the pull. I don't know what other damage might be done. The pics dont look too bad, but under the air dam are more cracks and scruffs. The air dam was also forced into the hood and now the hood won't latch, etc. Its a real piece of work:( My front Air dam is a Henneyscrewus Venom and I dont think I want a bondo filled repaired one. I live 20 minutes from RSI and Archer Dodge in Houston. Any advice? I am going to get a 300C for my rental :) I am entitled to one, right?

Wow, they did a number on that one. So need a new bumper now? Damn that is gonna cost them a nice penny.

Damn, I feel for ya, man. I'm having stereo work done today and I don't even want them to drive my car in the shop to work on it. Since they agree it's there responsibility, have it fixed the way that wil make you happy. Don't settle for "what's easy for them" to repair it.

It looks like the bumper and scratches are fairly straight forward to fix. The hood will be the biggest problem!

A tip I learned from Chuck Tator the "Viper Wizard"
when I was looking for a Viper on checking for damage:

Remove your console and check the plate on the frames
backbone if it is NOT flat you took a BIG hit and twisted the frame.
If you need help call Chuck at Tator's Dodge
his number is 914-763-3136

Were you there the whole time or did you drop the Viper off? Sounds to me like they took it on the road for a spin.

I gotta agree with Chuck on this one.

No way was that done at parking lot speed... take John ACR's advice and have it checked out THOROUGHLY!

There has to be more to this story than they are telling you. That damagae is clearly not just from a little "slow speed" "bump" on a ramp...??? Just look at that hood. Gimme a break.

Front frame is thin. When you say the hood doesn't latch, that is suspect. Front bumper is independent of hood latching, unless the bumper was forced up and is interfering. Also, the radiator shroud will crack easily.

If is was a low speed deal, I could imagine that sort of damage to fiberglass air dam, but with the hood involved, sounds more like a "fish story" about the ramp causing the damage.

Almost forgot, alignment out! RED FLAG! ! CHECK THE FRAME! !

Have a pro really check things out.

BS.

That was not done on any low speed ramp incident. They drove it and crashed it, you are looking at 5k worth of damage if there is no other damage like core support/frame/etc. If any one of those were damaged you are looking at north of 10k.

Thanks for the advice, please keep it coming.

For those who don't understand. I can try to be more clear.

Dropped off Viper for just a blown tire, and while it was there, some A/C work.

Firestone claimed Viper was moved from it's original bay since they were busy and needed the spot to work on another car.

They claimed they tried to drive it up on an alignment machine ramp to park it there when accident occurred.

There are cracks, too. No way they are using ANY bondo.

Ya, sorry man...manager took it out for a spin and couldn't handle the power.

Hey, didn't we see that happen on a Yellow Gen 3 post a while back, where the guy working on the car took it out when he wasn't supposed to and ended up flipping the care :(

One thing regarding that aftermarket nose piece, it is not rubber/soft/flexible like the stockers. It is hard like fiberglass and won't take the abuse near as well as the stock piece. This means a light hit will look much worse on that nose piece then it will on a stocker.

Agree with Tony. It's quite possible that they drove it up there like it was a normal car. I've driven cars up alignment racks and sometimes I took it pretty fast if I was rushed. Since they probably never get something like the Viper in, they probably took it up fast and ended up digging the front end into the ramps. Doesn't take much speed to crack up one of those fibreglass bumper skins.

I guess it is the spilled milk theory.

Also, a tow truck driver once said it was his DREAM just to TOW a Viper.

I can't be too upset.... I get to OWN one.

Yea, but rememner it also completely knocked it WAY out of alignment. Worst I have seen on any car. I almost lost control only going 40 with both hands on the 10-2 position. I should have had it towed but I was 1/2 way home.

did you happen to notice or have the mileage written down when you left it? I feel for ya, hope you get repairs done your way. document every little thing you can, phone calls, times, who you talked to...it may help if things go sour.

Tony - i agree with you 100% - there is definately no "give" in fiberglass. but look at that hood. i still can not figure out how that much damage happened from digging the front end into the ramps.

i guess it all probably doesnt matter anyway, since they have admitted guilt in writing and are willing to repair the car. personally, i would be prepared and expect a bit more resistance from them once they get the estimate to repair the damages.

Re: Firestone F \' upped my snake :( now what?.... With pics

Best advice I ever heard about leaving the snake to be repaired is to tape a big yellow sticky note with the mileage noted and a Do-Not-Drive message. This way you and anyone that drives it knows the exact mileage when you dropped it off.

Sorry to hear about your "accident".
