We have seen frame damage on Vipers that are tied down with the improper holdowns. We purchased about 50 of the big "S" hooks that we use to tie down
cars to the dyno. They are smooth rolled steel and will fit into the factory
frame hold downs without damage to the frame.

Are S-hooks somehow better than R-hooks, which is what I've been using and pictured below?

I think you can get them thru NAPA. I have some r-hooks and they work GREAT!
