I had the painted floor, and the same grief. I placed "Home Depot" stick-on tiles over the floor, and my problem was solved.
See my Avatar Pic at left.

I have only replaced two tiles at the entrance in 5 years.

Thanks Kurt:

The tiles in my garage are 12" squares with 6" black/white checkers, and are the general purpose (kitchen?) type. You peel off the paper and stick them in place. I think they were about 69-79 cents apiece at the Home Depot.

Also if a tile does come up (with weather or ???), it can be easily and permanently reaffixed with Household Goop type glue. I'm not in a cold climate, so I have had little problem with that.

I have a Gas Station size squeegee for floors, so I scrub/hose it clean. It has proved to be low maintenance.

Greg,

Thanks for the input!! I'm moving into a new house and looking for just that type of idea for the garage. Sounds like you have not had any issues with the tiles peeling or cracking? I've seen other types of flooring for garages, but all are much more expensive!!! Any other issues related to this that you can share? Thanks again

Does anyone make self-stick garage floor matting? Here's my situation: My garage floor is painted and the 18" tires just keep pullin the paint off of the floor ($50/gal. paint doesn't work either) I want to install 2 long black strips on the garage floor so that when I drive my GTS into the garage I don't need to worry about pullin any more paint off. Does this type of matting exist? Thanks.
