But the star of the show was not just a car, but the engine that powers it. Tom Stevens from GM Powertrains introduced the XV16 engine. This 16-cylinder engine displaces 13.6 liters and produces an amazing 1000 horsepower. At only 695 pounds, the aluminum-intensive engine weighs less than the largest V8s powering GM’s trucks.
Bob Lutz, GM vice chairman of product development and chairman of GM North America, had the honor of driving out the lovely package surrounding the engine. The Sixteen Concept is the ultimate luxury sedan and, as Lutz put it, it is the modern interpretation of everything that Cadillac stands for, and it is the vision of the golden age of Cadillac to come.
