I came across this website which had some tech tips for Viper owners.
There is some good info plus some cool pics.

#1 - 4 are standard but I was wondering about #5, 6 and especially 7.
What do you guys think? Roe sells the pinning kit. http://www.roeracing.com/ProductCart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=74&idcategory=188

From the website article:
(1) Change all fluids if not recently done. Should have receipt for verification.
(2) Get the fuel filter replaced. You might still have the original one.
(3) Check plugs and wires and change if needed.
(4) Replace PCV. Very cheap fix.
(5) Get the power steering cap vent. Also cheap fix. Small chance your viper might just become a BBQ pit. It has happen and will continue to happen.
(6) Upgrade P/S Pulley and Bracket $200.00 plus labor. Without this change, you could be left on the side of the road.
(7) Get the crank bolt pinned. Price depends, but around $250 on up. Could cost you an engine. I repeat, could cost you an engine.

5) You really just need to get a channel lock pliers and crank the power steering cap down tight.

6) My pulley had cracks in it at 45000 miles. I'm glad that I decided to replace it before it broke. I did the bracket also just because it was easy to do while I was down there. I'm thinking that that is more of a risk for the supercharged guys; but, cheap insurance.

7) I do not read often of people without superchargers needing to pin ? Definitely check to see that the bolt is tight.

Didn't know the P/S pulley was so suspect. Time to order the billet one and a new bracket. Great info from all.

You can check with Doug at Doug Levin Motorosports a sponsor on this forum; I remember he upgraded the pulley and pinned it to the crank on my supercharged 04 Mamba.......I am sure he has addressed the specific issue you mention.....give him a call he is very personable....http://www.douglevinmotorsports.com/.

definately pin the balancer. I had mine come off after it was torqued down correctly and used loctite. drilling and pinning isn't too bad if you have a right angle drill and mark the drill bit to the length of the pins so that you don't go too deep. I used a small piece of masking tape
