I'm planning to replace my rubber heater hoses with silicone hoses. Is this a simple task...drain coolant and simply replace the hoses or does it require movements of other parts? Any precautions to be aware of?
I would suggest that you have your tech do it...and yes...one needs to remove intake manifold, replace gaskets...and many would change T-stat and gasket.
You need specific hose clamps and the experience to tighten them just right as some are less than accessible after reassembly.
Don't know what year you are working on. If the thermostat housing is in the rear you risk breaking the windshield because of those damnable Mopar hose clamps. Thermostat housing has reverse torx bolts. Some silicone hoses have a bleeder port. If not I've found the best way to get most of the air out is add coolant through the top hose until it gets up to the thermostat housing then slam it together. Not for the weak hearted.
