Help! I Can\'t get the rear 02 sensors out

I am getting ready to do a Catback install (1997 GTS 15K miles), but I can't get the rear O2 sensors out. I have tried penetrating fluid to no avail. Perhaps I should just buy new rear O2 sensors. Any advice?

What kind of penetrating fluid? Not WD-40? That stuff *****.

You can buy a special socket for O2 sensor removal at your local auto parts store... If you have not rounded the corners of the sensors over yet. The only other way is to heat them up with a torch then brake them loose with a wrench.

I was using the Gunk brand penetrating fluid.

How much is it to replace the 2 sensors?

i can tell ya another thing that works...put some brake fluid on it and let it soak for awhile..them try to break it loose..Len

I have left the penetrating fluid on for 24 hours now, (4 applications total) and still cant break them loose on either side, I guess I'll just put a big ass cheater bar on them and if they break, I can replace them. I read in an earlier post, that I can run without them on a 1997. Is this true? The replacement is $200 for the pair.

Heat them up, run the car if you still can. Then wrench on them.

Sometimes the "shock" treatment is best.
Do all of the above, then put the longest wrench you have on them, and hit a sharp blow with a hammer; if that doesn't work. DON'T "get a bigger hammer". Many times this will crack things loose.
