My GTS came with these cone filters and they look pretty dirty. I am not sure how to clean them. I do have the K&N oil and am thinking of the following approach:
1) soak them in liquid Dawn mixed with warm water
2) spray from inside-out with garden hose
3) air dry
4) respray with K&N oil

Is the inside-out spraying step correct or should I spray outside-in?

Here is what it looks like:

Throwing them in the nearest deep lake will start the cleansing process, then you can go back to an airbox that isn't going to be sucking up super-heated radiator air..

Just use the hose and regulate the water enough just to push the dirt out from the inside. Do not use a spray head or you will damage the gauze. Let it air dry (do not use copressor air) and then put your oil. If you are using spray make sure that you cover every single line. You might need to turn it upside down after a while to let the oil drip down. Do not put too much oil at one time. Re-coat it if needed. Good luck.

OK thanks guys.

Key takeaways:

1) Don't use Dawn
2) Spray inside out with gentle water flow
3) Air dry
