With rumors flying about a HP increase in a year or two, Do you think it will be done with bolt on's ( Which will insure value to those who take the 2006 plunge. The right thing to do DC:)) or will it be a motor redesign?

displacement will stay the same but the heads will be redesigned. either they will port and polish the existing heads and throw in bigger valves or they will go to a hemi head. either way the compression ratio on the engine will be increased to 10:1 with a bigger cam installed or increased rocker ratios or both. this will bring on at least another 50 hp and possibly as much as 75 hp depending on how big the cam gets. more than likey the cam will be left stock or similar to a comp coupe cam as passing smog tests are difficult. increasing the lift thru rocker ratio is the easiest way for them to go.

Intake - a la K & N, Heads - ported with larger valves, Cam - comp coupe, Exhaust - less restrictive. There's tons there to work with. With just minor mods, 600 - 625 hp is easily achieved.

With all of our combined complaints, this is still a great platform to start with considering all else that's available.

Most likely there will be no bump in power for the current V-10. Any of the changes you guys are mentioning would require them to recertify (for emissions, etc) an engine that is due to be replaced in another year or two because of ever tightening government restrictions. Since the Viper has now lost its "halo car" status, it must make money as a platform and I'm sure they can't justify the NRE costs to enhance the outgoing powerplant.
