I\'d suggest you go try to start your snake right now.....

It's 26 degrees here in the windy city and I just tried to start my Viper which hasn't been driven in about 2-3 weeks....

Much to my surprise the car didn't start... and all I got was the worse jackhammer sound I've ever heard.... no wine (like most cars do)... just the worse sound I've ever heard when I pressed the button...

7 months of ownership and it's now been on a flatbed twice....

Just venting...

Nope... on a charger... that I don't believe in anyway.... as it's a car... yep... a C-A-R... every car I own starts in cold weather even if I don't drive it for a month...

A defective battery... ok.. I could see that....

Just a guess because the "jackhammer" sound you described sounded like the battery had enough power to fire the starter solenoid (thus making the sound) but not enough to engage the starter.

I'd say that's definitely a low battery. The battery pulls in the solenoid, finds it hasn't the energy to turn over the motor causing the voltage to drop, disengages the solenoid, voltage goes up, then does it again.

It's a bad battery. It's happened to me twice. Third battery with 4 thousand miles seems like problem to me.

I wouldn't be surprised if we hear about it from Dodge in the future.
Then again, maybe not.....

I've driven my SRT-10 three times in the past five days. Last Saturday with the temp in the mid 30s, Sunday with the temp about 15 and last night with the temp about 25. Prior to that I hadn't started the car for over a month. All three times it started as soon as I pushed the button.

Same thing happened to me last week. First cold snap in South GA and I hadn't driven the car in about 3 or 4 weeks. The jackhammer analogy is dead on. Anyway, she started right up with the help of a jump and hasn't given me any problems since. I put a set of jumper cables in the trunk just in case.

Just curious...were the SRT-10's in "sleep mode", have alarms set, or none of the above??

Mine is in sleep mode and has a battery tender. But I won't know if it starts until March or thereabouts.

I tried mine today and it started right up. No problem with the differential fluid either when I drove it. But then again it was in the 70's today and since the top was down and the Beach Boys were playing so loud I couldn't hear the diff. anyway.

Temperatures here around 68. My SRT-10 starts everytime & I get to drive mine daily. Sorry to hear about the cold weather. What is weather anyway?

Sounds like sound advice to me, I wouldn't start it if I wasn't going to drive it.
