It\'s FINALLY here!!!!

Well, after owning my 2001 ACR Bumblebee for over a month, the car FINALLY showed up from Florida last night around 7:45 PM. When the transport showed up, it was getting dark outside, and there was a TORRENTIAL downpour in progress (we were actually under a flood warning.) The transport driver, myself, my 7 year old son, my wife and several on-lookers were absolutely soaked within a few minutes of the car showing up. The driver backed the car off the transport and pulled it straight into the garage where I toweled it down and let it sit for the night.

Mr Hemi Head (Rick) was gracious enough to come out to my house and go over the car with me this morning (on his day off no-less!) We got to go for a quick drive, but nothing too spirited since it was still sprinkling on and off. The car drives great, though the seat lowering kit is an absolute must. It wasn't until after the drive that I remembered that I could move the pedals forward from their rear-most position....big difference. :)

We noticed last night that the inside of the car, specifically the passenger side floorboard had gotten VERY wet somehow. I don't think it was because of the rain between the trailer and the garage, that only took about 45 seconds and the windows were up. The car had gotten wet somewhere prior to delivery (the car was taken off the transport in NJ to load a Lamborghini on, so it could have happened there).

The paint needs some serious work to get it up to what I consider an acceptable standard (I'm VERY picky though), and the car has some other minor quirks that will have to be worked out over time, but nothing affecting performance.

I have to give a HUGE THANKS to Mr. Doug Levin for going out of his way to make a handful of things right with the car so that it runs perfectly. Without going into detail, if it weren't for Doug, I would probably have backed out of this car (which could have been quite problematic). Thank you Doug for your services.

Here are a few (very bad) pictures for posterity. It's been raining all freakin' day so I couldn't really get it out to take pictures. I enjoy photography and have done some work that's been published, so I'll get better pictures later when it's not raining.

That bad boy is buzzzzzing already. If you call that paint bad, I can't wait to see what you do with it from this point. Nice scheme, no doubt!

Congrats! That looks like something I would never sell if I bought it. ACR is a very choice GTS model. Did it have comfort package or was it factory stripped? After owning a Viper for a while one becomes an amateur weatherman. Welcome and enjoy. :2tu:

That would worry me. If its really wet, you're probably going to need to pull the carpet out of the car and replace the padding or atleast let the carpet/padding dry in the sun for a day or so. Having an RT/10 w/the crappy factory softtop, I know all about rain in the interior. The water will get in the padding and on the actual body of the car. You're at risk for the body possibly rusting over time and the smell of mildew. You'll never dry it without pulling the carpet out even with a high power shopvac if its seeped into the padding and onto the floorboard

It has the comfort package (thank God because it's about 105% humidity here lately!)

The stripes are not factory, but they are paint and not vinyl. One of the things about the paint that needs to be corrected is some black overspray on the roof right at the windshield.

Yeah, I'm concerned about it too. I've heard rumor that pulling the carpet out of this car is NOT fun, so I'm not looking forward to it. The mildew smell isn't gonna fly though. I HATE that.

I am sooo excited for you Kelly and no mater what issues the car has, you will get em straight! It just takes time and patience. I am sad that its raining there and you can't spend all week in your new baby! You could send the rain to me for a week. Hopefully the sun will come out and you will be able to drive the wheels off that new beast!

Congrats! I am so happy you finally got your car...... :) Kaya
