jacking question

Is keeping the car on hydraulic jacks bad for the jacks? Not sure it's rough on the seals or not.

I have left the car on the jack alone for a short period of time, but I would not get underneath the car unless it was on stands.

Heck, I wouldn't even leave it on jacks for an extended period of time. One of the seals goes and you could have a very nasty surprise.

I had mine on a hydraulic jack this past weekend to take wheels off to clean them. It was on the jack for around 2 hours per side. I love how you can take both wheels off the same side at once by just jacking the front. I did have a jackstand underneath....just in case. but have never had a hydraulic failure.....yet

I guess I should define "short period of time" No more than about 10-15 minutes. I did this last weekend while removing the shocks.
