K & N Whistle

Question for you guys with K & N intakes. How loud are yours. Mine squeels like a stuck pig at idle, especially after start up. It sounds like is is grasping for every bit of air it can find.

did you disconnect the battery when you installed the unit so the computer could relearn.

The noise you are hearing is the air rushing through the idle air control motor, which is the 3/4" hose on the passenger side connecting the throttle body to the K&N plastic. If you smooth out the inlet on the K&N, you can alter the noise to your liking. It is only used at idle.

ViperGMC, your car sounds like it is built tough. I aspire to have a signiture like that.

file, drill, box cutter, basically clear out any flashing mold parting lines sharp edges etc. results will vary

I like the blah, blah on yours, LOL, I think I might start using that.

Sounds like the problem owners had with the original K & N systems. Mine sounded like it had a supercharger when first installed. Drilled out both orifices in the composite tube and cured the problem.

Do a search as someone actually posted the drill sizes used to open the orifices.

The whistle went away when I 'drilled-out' the K&N fittings ... per earlier threads on the topic

all you need to do is drill out the small hole 3/8" and the large hole 1/2". then use 1/2" self stick foam tape under the K & N tube and on top of it between the 2 air box houshings. I AM LOOKING TO BUY A K & N USED SETUP. ALL I NEED IS THE V TUBE, HOSE, AND GROMMET. EMAIL ME AT [email protected]
