Finally getting the Green 95 Dialed in. Many thanks go out to Joe Kalas of Barbera Dodge for all the help he has given to me with the suspension work. Although there were 4 other faster cars (3 Panoz & 1 Corvette) I did well. The Panoz & Vette were lighter with less HP. Temps were cold felt like winter. Laid down a 1:41.866 not bad for Stock 95 with Hoosiers. I was not able to obtain Sundays Results but once i have them i will post.

Now who ever said that the 1995's RT/10 would not keep up with the newer Gen II Models. Sunday's results were: 4th overall, 1st in Class. Putting down a 140.5 best lap time. This Green 95 keeps getting stronger & stronger. Did a quick check and this 95 is running faster than some of the GT-1 - GT-2 cars in Viper Days. See you at the track....

That is what I got on my hot-lap-timer. Funny that you never belive me but you never post your own numbers. How about you bring your car to Wg in May and we'll see who runs what. If you beat me on street tires I'll buy you a beer if not you'll owe me one.

Most likely you are running a different configuration at that track than the ViperDays folks. My guessis that you are not beating the times that Bobby Archer ran at the runoffs on Hoosiers with street tires on the same track configuration.

Oh, and my money is on Hoosier Daddy. Put me down for $20...

There is a kink (turns 2+3) just before the Keyhole (turn 4), that they sometimes omit so you end up having a straight from turn 1 to the keyhole. This would obviously be faster.

If you check the Viperdays lap times that you posted, everyone was on Hoosiers. Worth quite a bit at Mid Ohio vs. Pilot Sports. If you look at the Prepared division you can compare apples to apples. The best time was run by Chris Adam at 1:42.562.

I don't mean to doubt your lap timer, but I think my money would have to be on Hoosier Daddy as well.

I would love to spank you all over the track at the glen. Unfortunetly I will be at Mid America Motorplex out in Iowa for a Viperdays event then. Shame you are not going to Mid Ohio later this month as I would like to see you point me by while your laying down a 1:38 lap. While I don't have quite the car mods you have it will be just like taking candy from a baby. Plus I don't need to post numbers, and I'm certainly not going to post wrong deflated numbers either.

All those times you posted are on Hoosiers. There is also a kink on the front straight that you can either run or not and that would impact times. Anything faster than these 2 guys is suspect - as they are on street tires - and certainly 5 seconds faster is very suspect for the same config.

So it looks like I would have placed 5th in the unlimited class at WG on my street tires. This is based on a cold day run at WG and I know that I got an easy one more second there. I run the full track 2:19 (with bus stop)

Unlimited Time Points
Sonny Whelen 2:07.245 1000
Berney Katz 2:11.758 966
Jim Stout 2:15.874 936
Sam Kelly 2:16.306 933
Don Vanden Bos 2:19.329 913
Jeff Ellison 2:20.988 903
Thomas Farrell 2:21.987 896
George Bockwinkel 2:23.051 890
Ed Budriss 2:23.202 889
Tom Minella 3:23.576 886
Andrew Cinque 3:28.248 858

Hoosier so how about posting the real numbers...are you scarred? LOL

Yes, I'm to scared to post numbers that will ridicule your meager existence. A professional race driver like yourself shouldn't be picking on us lowly student drivers. Your doing a good job of posting others times already maybe mine is in there also. Hold on let me check my crystal ball, I mean Hot Lap Timer myself and see what I can come up with for a time. At the VOI-7 drags I had a 12.32 in qualifying trim.

Next race is May 10-11 at BeaveRun. Frank, expect that Corvette to be back, along with the Mansier Motorsports Corvette, and hopefully a few more Vipers. The Corvette is coming back to the garage tomorrow, and testing at BeaveRun on May 25th (open track day run by the track). Hope to see you all soon!

Hoosier...I lost all respect for you and Bill told me that you were a good guy...
I called you up to a friendly challenge but you instead decided to make fun of me, not the first time and calling me names. It looks to me like you have a God complex.

Frank - so sorry to hijack your thread!!!

Nice numbers on the Gen I! The only benchmark I have is Chris Adam in his fairly stock RT/10 (or RT/5 as he calls it 'cause it's so down on power etc. from the Gen IIs...) was doing a 1:42 on STREET tires as Sonny posted above. However, I consider him an exceptional driver - and based on the unlimited numbers - nice job!

Will you be a ViperDays at the end of this month?

Going back a couple of years in 2001 Seth P. had a time of 1.40. something in the racers group. I believe he is the only one still running a Gen 1 Viper in that group. Kudos on that time Frank, sorry for sidetracking the thread but the BS flag had to be raised on a street tired 1.38 with 275's up front no less.

No problem on the hi-jacked thread. It's been since 1999 i believe that i actually ran this 'ol 95 in a race. Could re skin (or shed) the body panels but i can't find anyone that makes ABS Plastic molds of a GEN 1. Unfortunately i will not be attending Viper Days in April i will just be getting back from my winter vacation. I do hope to hear all the stories though. I posted the times since i recently put her up for sale and had inquiries about lap times. Thanks for the air waves....frank

BeaveRun May 10-11 is the next race of the Midwest Vette/Viper Challenge. With all this talk about lap times, let's all get together at BeaveRun and really see who's fast!
