Re: MOBILE 1 10W-30

Doc, It's a little tough with this kind of information. The TBN is a little higher than usual, so maybe this oil also has ACEA performance credentials? Of diesel API CD or CF? It also has higher phosphorus, so it won't be API SM. Based on this, I'd use it.

Ok, so where can we get this brand of oil? I'm guessing not Wal-mart :D :D

Just as a trivial side note, if you like Mobil Synthetic products (as I do) and like the idea Tom discusses regarding diesel oils and their more robust additive packages (as I do) then consider the Mobil 1 of the Diesel world, Mobil's Delvac 1, 5W-40. Based on Tom's posts and my desire to stay synthetic, it's what I chosen. Admittedly I have no engineering knowledge whatsoever, and while I agree with Tom on the fact that for typical Viper use non-synthetic is fine, I just feel better staying with a name brand synthetic.

I have been using Amsoil for years in everything we operate. My fleet trucks gas & diesel, my motorcycles, my 2002 SS Camaro and in the 2004 Viper. You will never convince me of better oil. I had one of my bikes engine board out and the mechanic called and asked what oil I was running in it. I told him Amsoil and he said the engine looks brand new inside. No ware showing at 25,000 miles. Amsoil will lower the heat of the engine and will withstand higher heat temperatures than other oils. Driving around Southern Arizona in the summer that’s good to know. Find a local dealer that handles the product or buy the stuff from one of the members on this forum but get it in the car. Your car will run better and smoother. I run the S 2000 won’t use anything else.

Amsoil is a very good product but I have been using Royal Purple Lubricants for years in all my street cars, race cars, bikes, and boats. The viper runs a much cooler oil temp on the oil. You may find it easier to buy than Amsoil.
