I forget which mag I saw at the news-stand, but he beat out the imports including a mega Godzilla Supra.

The compared everything from cost, to mileage, to lap time, to car show points on this collection of hot cars.

And Viper was the winner.

and a lot was due to Mumford smoking 'em on the track.

What a great job!

Tom;

Just read the article and couldn't agree more. The Magazine was "Sport Compact Car"--now on the news stands. The title is significant. As you know, you don't see much about Vipers in this pub. I suspected the Viper was there as a set up to be gunned down by some shady rating scheme--but Paul still won--converting a home field crowd.

Paul, nicely done sir.

All of the cars were voted in.

What class of car is the Viper? Rating wise.

The rating goes by interior volume does it not?

You have to love Sport Compact Magazine. While the Viper did not win in the dyno or 1/4 mile contests, they did rate it number one in the driveabiltiy test!! When has a Viper ever won in this category? These guy are not your typical wimpy car magazine writers

There were MANY categories the cars were scored. The Viper won a few, the monster Supra won a few. The only thing was that the Viper never did badly in any category.

No matter what any Ricer says, they are ALL closet Viper lovers.

Like, anyone who doesn't love a 427 Cobra is a loser.

Congrats Paul on winning this contest and beating my buddy Mani with the Supra. I know that he is looking forward to the next contest.

I told him that he needs to get John Archer to set up his chassis and suspension. You have proven time and time again that driver skill and chassis and suspension set up, can beat obscene amounts of HP.

Great showing!

I thought it was a pretty fair write-up. The only thing I really took exception to is the category where the cost of the vehicles were compared which is the only one where the Viper came in last. They had the base cost of the Skyline down for something like $38K. When has anyone purchased a new Skyline in the U.S. for $38K? More like $80K.

That's a typical magazine illusion. :(
A new Motorex-imported Skyline GT-R is $95,000, and that is bone-stock with 320HP.
You can go through federal loops with a great deal of effort and work to federalize the car yourself for much less money, but it's a great deal of work.

The one question that bears to be elucidated upon , is. "Who is Mumford?"

Let's see, we have.................

1.1999 Street Prepared National Champion - Viper Days
2. 2nd On Track Challenge in 2001 -- probably won in 02?
3. 2001 & 2002 Unlimited National Champion - Viper Days
4. Winner of the VOI-7 , Viper Days Race , in GT-1
5. Winner of the Finals , Viper Racing League, 2002

Well, these are just a few accomplishments, so you get the drift, and now he wins the Ultimate StreetCar Challenge
in a Snake.

PS - Don't get him started , as he was voted one of the " Kings of Smack," on the VCA Board in 2000, so he can type
the talk , and wok da walk.
