My driver\'s side door won\'t stay open.

What gives? It's pretty embarrasing having a 50k car and the damn door won't even stay open. My passenger door "locks" into place just fine. Is this a common problem with Gen II RT/10's? If so, what can I do to fix this?

Your door hinge has a thin metal stopper on it, unfortunately the only way to fix is replace the hinge assy.

Yes and no,

you do need to replace the spring but, since it is a pain in the a#$ to change the hinge due to realigning/adjusting the door, what i did on mine was to get a new hinge (under waranty) drill out the aluminum rivet that hold the metal spring on both the old one and the new one, tapped the hole on the old one to accept a bolt and put the new spring on the old hinge.

Wow! 187? Maybe I can shove an empty aluminum coke can in there for now.

Be careful, Sometimes the spring that has broken off is still behind the
cover. You should take the cover off and see if you can find the metal
that broke off or it could end up working its way to your door and when the
door open's up it will scratch your paint pretty good.

If you don't find it, its probably already gone....

They are not too hard to replace but its best to have two people, one to hold the door in place while the other changes out the hinge. If you luck out and the door does not shift then its about a 30 minute job. If it shifts, it could
take hours to get it all back in alignment.

Make sure the can is empty before placing it between the door.

P.S. Use a Guniess can, it will hardly be noticeable.
