They will generally change the rubber surround when they change the windshield. Your insurance claim should be under comprehensive and not collision, which doesn't count against your record with most companies like State Farm. Usually a lower deductible too.

I want to change my rubber seal. Its looking old and nasty looking. I been wanting to change it out so what better time to do it than now?

That was the reason I had to replace my windshield.....the installer warned me that he had a less than 50:50 chance to remove the windshield without breaking it, unfortunately it broke
The new rubber weather strip was included with the new windshield, that would be pretty chintzy to put the old one back.
