What is the symptom.

Took it to a trusted mechanic and he said he was 100% sure it was the tranny. :(

Just bought a used transmission from DSA Automotive (Don Scharf). They have been great so far. I will let everyone know how it works out. :2tu:

Don is the MAN and probably the best kept secret for used Viper parts! Wise choice!

One more time - what was the symptom.

First a clicking noise when under load then it grew into a loud thumping noise under load. A trusted mechanic put it on the lift and found the noise comming from the tranny.

I hope you are right, the same type of sound more commonly comes from the rear-end. A cheap check could be putting a bottle of the friction modifier fluid into the rear. You might also be able to partially pin it down by road testing and see if the noise is rpm (in a specific gear) or speed related.

:( You where right it's the rear end that "trusted" mechanic was wrong. And I am out $1500 :( Anyone want a transmission?
