I need some advice. I am thinking about picking up roe high-flow cats. I want to know if my reasoning is sound. Here it is:
1. they will cut down heat in the cab, and save my side sills from inevitable fading
2. they will add 17-22rwhp & tq, (according to roe's website)
3. it will give a little more sound

Also, I have a couple questions, please bare with me.
1. about the sound, I am considering taking out the 2 mufflers, or resonators, or whatever they are(the ones on the side), when I do this. That would leave the high flow cats and the one rear stock muffler. Does anyone have this set up, and would it be of any benefit to do this?
2. if I put in the roe high flow cats, will I need to buy the o2 simulator things, or is that only if you take the cats off completely?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. For those that don't know, I have a 02 GTS, mostly stock, just tubes/filters when it comes to power upgrades.

I have those cats....and NOTHING else from the stock "headers" back. No stock resonators in the side sills...no rear muffler. Cats and pipe....thats all.

One word. LOUD. No other way to put it. For MY PERSONAL taste...it might be a tad too loud, but I plan to leave it and coast by all police. :)

Far as I know, you will NOT need O2 sims as long as you leave that piping alone.

Q0. The only real way to reduce the heat is removing the cats. Yes they will add a couple of HP especially if you are SC. You will not get louder just by installing high flow cats.

Q1. You can remove the muffler but the resonator is another matter. If you have the cats + resonator and no muffler the sound will be great. I love that sound. I used to run like that. No cats+no muffler => very loud => need ear plugs+stereo upgrade.

Q2. I don't think that you need O2 simulator. It will depend on your PCM. I was able to get away without the o2 sims.

To gain more HP, install roller rockers.

I'm guessing roller rockers are about $1500. I'm not sure if I can throw them in myself either. I would do it, if it was signifacant jump in power, but I thought it was the same, about 20rwhp.

Agree with Schulmann...Go with the Roe cats, keep the resonators, axe the muffler, add a Corsa exhaust, or have a muffler shop weld in some straight pipes to delete the muffler...it will sound loud but not to loud..Roe makes a sidesill wrap that helps keep the heat down on the sills and in the car as well...AL... :)

I've got an almost brand new pair of those Roe cats sitting in my garage. Less than 500 miles on them. 3" in/out.

PM me if you're interested.

I may be interested.
How easy are these to do?
Does anything else have to be done with them?
How much rwhp/tq?

Depends on the car, but typical is about 10-20 RWHP. They are fairly straight forward, BUT if you're not mechanically inclined, I would let a professional do the job. The geometry MUST be correct. To make it so, you'll need a longer pushrod than stock. Normally a 7.600-7.700" long pushrod bought from summitracing (trickflow) will work. Some will buy an adjustable pushrod to measure for the correct measurement, but most can get away with 7.650". :2tu: :2tu:
