A lot of folks complain that the stock stereo (especially the speakers) doesn't sound that good, but through some dedicated trial and error, I have found that it CAN sound pretty good.

Try the following settings:
TREBLE (-2)
BASS (-1)
BALANCE (center)
FADER (rear +6)

Note that this works well for a GTS, probably not so well for the RT/10. Bass or treble may be adjusted by 1 depending on music type and listener preferences.

With these settings, you get a full sound in the low mid range from your rear speakers while getting only the crisp high trebles from the fronts. The key is keeping most of the sound in the rear. That way, you eliminate a lot of the "unclear" treble.

Of course, to get any serious bass out of the car, you will have to do something differently. I added a 10" sub and it is excellent (and plenty of cargo space left).
