I flew from denver to atlanta to pick up my viper. I drove it up to chicago to see my grandmother who just got out of the hospital and then drove it out to colorado where I live now. Just a bit over 2000 miles and 28hours in the car in 4 days... I even stopped at the racetrack to see what the car would do at sea level!

tearing it apart after the track... looking for something.
car went 12.0@119 pretty much bone stock, stock tires, etc with a 1.96 60' time. I had clutch problems (getting hot) and couldnt get into third gear a few times even though my 60' was 1.8x... a definate 11 second pass... oh well

it was a GREAT trip! I never got pulled over once and just had a great time driving the car and getting used to it!
for those who havent seen the vid I made doing the 1-4 gear pull, here it is. Keep in mind, this was my FIRST time driving the car so the shifts are just ok and I did short shift a bit (not used to the car yet)

there should be a vid coming soon from the 12.0 pass at the track.

Damn!!! 2000 miles, I am picking mine up next week (a 96 GTS) in Chicago and thinking about driving home to Phoenix, I was worried about the 1800 miles but after seeing this, sounds like fun. Good luck with the ride, lookss great.:drive:

previous owner replaced all the fluids and forgot to put sealer on the drain bolt so it had a slight leak... all that for that... we didnt know where it was coming from so I got carried away and wanted to play with it, lol

plus I wanted to see where the turbos would go, lol jk

Congrats on the new ride. Road trips are fun. I did the same thing when I purchased my Z06. Picked it up at the dealership in Ohio and drove it back to Massachusetts. Only 900 miles though, not even close to your 2000, but it was a great experience. I would do it again in a heart beat!

It's heartbreaking to see Tony having to live in such squalid conditions.
Perhaps we should take up a collection to help him out.

It is my pleasure to change your title from Enthusiast to Viper Owner. I look forward to changing it one more time to VCA Member (Membership is prorated to $60 right now I believe...;) ) Make sure you update your profile with your Viper's VIN number (only admins can see it, so no security concern there.)

Congratulations on acquiring a BEAUTIFUL car!!! Looks like you had a great adventure getting it home to CO.

Congratulations! It looks like a nice car. I will always remember the great time I had driving my Viper home after just purchasing it. It was a short drive compared to yours (300 miles), but it was a memorable one. :2tu:

Bought my 1st Viper in Illinois and drove it home to BC (over 2,000). Bought my 2nd in Ohio and drove it to the border spent two days waiting for us to redo paperwork (they threw it away 1st time) then finally arrive home after 3800miles. What a blast, except the paperwork. I've put 10,000mi. on my Viper in 5 weeks. Each time I drive it I go at least 400mi. (to nearest city and back). Being one of the best driving cars in the world, I really enjoy driving it!

Looks like you had a fun trip back. Yeah, the mile high altitude takes about 1 sec off your times. Sux huh? My best time so far is 12.2/120mph.

lol. Thats mustang talk. Viper guys dont usually come up with excuses. "I was down on 1 cyclinder, clutch was slipping, tires were bald, air was hot, had bricks in the trunk, I had temp of 103 degrees, timing was off.." Your times are your times, if you ran it with x condition of the car, thats your deal. Until you beat that time, thats what you run.... no excuses please.. sounds silly.

And its Jon you sob :)

PS. Never knew the mile high club sucked so bad :) lol.. I'll stick with Chicago
