If they have two stalls, all work in the other stall comes to a halt so they can all look at the Viper. Makes the other car owner a little put out.

I know the guy who runs the Quick lube and he's a performance car enthusiast. He came out and supervised the whole thing.

It only cost me about $56 with 9 quarts of Mobil 1 and a new filter. Also saved a trip to the dealer.

Be careful, they use cheap filters. Bring your own if your not sure of what they're using

It sort of riles me a little.

I told the guy I wanted the Mobil 1 filter and then he sort of laughed and said they're all the same.

I guess I'll change it.

As far as the hood. I had to open and close it myself.

When the guy went to start the car, he had that look on his face like it was going to blow up.

My main concern, and why I hung out the whole time was that I used to hear about Vipers being overfilled. Mine took 9.

He filled it to 8. Started it. Then added another. Its right at the mark.

Do it yourself! Part of the enjoyment of having this car is working on it yourself. If you want it done right, do it yourself. My $.02.

I'm with 96 R/T-10,
When I recently took my Viper to the dealer for the 998/999 recall they replaced the oil adapter gasket and in the process, changed the oil. I was disappointed as I look forward to changing the oil myself. Oh well, in another 3000 miles...

Faster to do it yourself, if you include the drive time to the lube shop.

At Mission Auto in Reno, NV, they seemed to know more about Vipers than most Viper owners.

In particular, they knew exactly how much oil a 2000 takes!

The biggest problem in getting an oil change is to find a place that has pit "rails" low enough.

Unfortunately, that leaves Wal-Mart out!

They don't touch the Viper.... I watch them like a hawk with my
other cars. Caught one guy under there giving the lube job and
all he was doing was shooting a little grease on the zerts and
not even connecting the grease gun... I was pissed and told him
to do it right or don't do it at all. Its hard to trust any of
them any more.
