I have a question about these pedals, how are they for grip? I am always wearing dress shoes that never have grip on them and these pedals look like they might have my foot slip, especially if it rains. Would anyone have any experience with this? Any help would be greatly appricated.

Thanks in advance

This thread sound familar Keith...

Wish I could help keith but I never drive mine in the rain and I always wear rubber bottom wear when I drive my asp. However you might be right under certain conditions. My Autovation pedals do have ridged surface so they are not slippery in my case.

Re: Question About Autovation Pedals NEED HELP PLEASE!

I think the tread area is too big, and it seems harder to put my big feet on the pedal without clipping the adjacent pedal with the edge of my shoe. Kind of clutters up the foot area, in my opinion. Its not an insurmountable obstacle, its just a little tight.

Signed, Big Foot

ps. The mounting holes are too close together, causing conflict with the pedal arm weld radius, (or at least it was on my car, others may be different) and this required some mechanical gymnastics to get the nuts on the bolts.

I ended up tapping some of the holes, because the bolts ended up coming through the arm in the area of the weld radius, on either side of the pedal arm. It was impossible to get the nuts on. Poor design.

If the mounting holes were cast farther apart left to right, so that the bolts could just go straight through the pedal and out the backside, without coming near the pedal/arm welds, the job would have been a slam dunk. Must have looked good on paper!

They do have the raised edges (except for the gas pedal) which should help with traction. The only time I can recall they were slippery was when I got something like armor all or some tire cleaner on my shoes and then drove, but I feel most pedals would be that way.

I don't worry about it personally. I enjoy mine and they look great on the car.

I have a set on my '95. I don't think you'll have any problems with them being slippery. Not only are the edges raised, the holes in the pedals have raised edges as well (exclude gas pedal). I have had absolutely no problems with them so far.

Well thank you everyone. It sounds good so far. I guess I will purchase these pedals now. So how hard are they to install? I have heard they are quite a challenge by some.

I ended up using longer bolts on the brake and clutch. I think the came with 1/2 and I used 3/4 which made things easier. Had to go to a specialty bolt supplier to get the correct head.

Other that that the pedals were easy. It is just an awkward(sp) place to work. Took about an hour and a half for me.

Ouch. Sounds like nightmare stories. I am going to take mine to my local body shop and see if they can do it. If they can't I think I might just take it to the dealer. I have heard about a lot of headaches so I will try to avoid it. Also I do not have the drill at home.
