Well I finally got around to installing this setup along with the RB1. First off i must say that the RB1 is a must have for the Viper. While it is a bit expensive I was able to purchase a new one in box for $730 which was a steal compared to what Dodge wants. It not only looks great, I think it sounds better as well. It is definitely easy to operate and the screen is really clear.
I would like to thank Zen Garage who talked me through the install prior to getting my hands dirty and gave me some tips that really helped.
Overall the install is pretty straight forward and took me about 4 ours total. The toughest part was hanging Ipod box and running the connector to the center console. I took the advice of Zen and put the ipod box exactly where he did in the picture above in the corner above the glove box. Once installed the glove box does need to be cut to close but it was simple. Roughly cut 1" off the back of the box. The ipod kit comes with velcro to hand it but to ensure it would move I also used two wire ties. As far a running the ipod line to the center console to connect the ipod, you do need to cut a bit of the centert dash plastic to fit the cord through. No big deal as I first drilled some holes then clipped the remaining pieces out.
At the same time I did the install i swapped out the stock upper and lower console with the custom black kit from Mopar. I absolutely love it. Anther east install you just need to be care with the little nuts that hold the parking brake boot on. I do have the MGW bezels for the gauges but love the way this one looks without them.
