Recommendations for track alignment wanted

I posted this over in wheel, tire, and suspension but it may not get seen by the same audience.

I'm entertaining a complete "do-over" of the alignment settings on my track car (the incremental approach has just seemed to mess it up worse and worse as I go) .

I got these specs from a knowledgeable track rat, hope they are useful:

Front
Camber: -1.5
Caster: +6.0
Total Toe: +0.12(+0.06 each side)
Rear
Camber: -1.1
Total Toe: +0.24(+0.12 each side)
Try this and I think you'll be happy.
Remember you can give your car an additional -1 degree camber by simply removing the sports shims.

im around 1.5 F and 1.0 R for street and track (camber)

also replaced my shims with ones that are half as thick so if i need alittle more camber on the track i can pull em and go up to 2.0 in the front

For a dedicated trackcar i would go consult with the ViperDaysTimeTrials and/or compcoupe/acrX guys.

F -1.9 R -1.3 caster 6, toe neutral worked great on the track in my 2000 Creampuff, it was a little "darty" on the street but nothing I couldn't handle.

Having your rear caster angle equal on both sides is VERY important, and very difficult, if not impossible, to measure with conventional alignment shop equipment. Perhaps the ultra-high line Hunter equipment can calculate this angle. But to be sure, you've gotta get the Viper Service Tools and a DRBIII.

I toe out, always have. about 1/32 to 1/16 on the front. Toe in the rear.

I run a wide front rim, 12' on the track, 11" on the street. I'm probably about 2* camber on the front with the shims. I don't have the tools to measure caster.

Me too, with neutral toe, turn in wouldn't be quick enough for my taste. With too much though an imperceptibly small input at 150 mph can move you 20 feet! Almost rubbed door handles with a GT3 a while back.....he wasn't amused.

Absolutely, the only shop I go to for alignments has a Hunter Optical system, it's the only one I'll use and my regular guy has all the Viper tools. It's pricy but incredibly accurate. I'd definately try to find a shop with Hunter equipment.

Thanks all, I appreciate the help. They completed the alignment and got close to the caster settings without sacrificing much negative camber. I'll get the specific numbers when I pick it up later today, but I won;t be able to know how it affects performance for another few weeks (next track event). The shop did not have the Hunter Optical System, so there'll be a "back up" if it still isn't right. I'll report back.
