You'll definitely gain some hp by removing the cats. Since you have a 93, you also don't need to worry about the downstream O2 sensor since it doesn't exist.

On the other hand, removing the muffler will put you very high on the wanted list. I think King Fahd might personally come after you (no offense)

Actually Rex, the most restrictive part on the exhaust system, in a early roadster, is the muffler and NOT the CAT. This was disclosed by a Team Viper engineer. The CATS are very efficient. I personally had a second exhaust system made so as not to cut up the original. Mine consisted of 2.5 or 2.75 SS pipe with a glass pack muffler. It was loud (inside and outside of the car) but it definitely made the car quicker on the street, drag strip and the road course.
