my rubber shift boot was badly torn so i decided to replace it. i drilled out the rivets and in the process of doing so the bottom part of the three left rivets are now rolling back and forth every time i accelerate or brake. does anyone have any idea how to get them out? i tried a magnet and i tried a rubber hose and a vacuum but no luck.

I had the same problem. I thought about 2 routes to go. Drill a hole to access the bits, or perhaps put some sticky glue in there then slam on the brakes to get the bits to stop sliding around....
Well, I drove it for awhile, and they quit rattling around eventually on their own. They must have either got jammed up somewhere in there, or came out at an unknown location

take the belly pan off of the bottom, the rivet nubs will fall out reinstall belly pan.
