Well, put in a "test" pipe on each side in place of the cats...and it smells like rotten eggs when it sitting...will this go away as I get to higher RPM's or break in this new pipe? Please tell me so...
Sulfur compounds in the gasoline burn and create a noticeable smell (mercaptans) similar to what is put in natural gas. The particular odorant is used because a very small amount is still extremely noticeable to the human olefactory system. It should change when you refill with another tank of gasoline.
The rotten eggs smell is usually a sign of a failed catalytic converter. We get it all the time with Mercedes. The thing is, I think my father said it can be from the cat being clogged. I'm not sure why. You might want to check the rest of the exhaust. I read about one particular bend that uses braided steel and the steel collapses internally and clogs the exhaust system. Just a thought.
