?\'s about Cat Delete

I've got a 96' RT/10 and ready to do a cat delete. Here's my questions:

1. Will I need SIMMs or anything to keep the check engine light from coming on?

2. Will I be running super rich and how much will my gas mileage be affected?

3. How much RWHP will I gain and how much louder will the car be?

TIA guys!

1Tony1,
recommended the Moroso Spiral Flow Racing Muffler to me. I am goning to try it and think it is a good idea. It does not have packing and is somewhat straight through with little back pressure. I am going to use them in place of hi flow cats. Here is the link to Moroso. http://www.moroso.com/catalog/categorydisplay.asp?CatCode=35001

99 needs 02 sims... 97 and before didn't, methinks.

no cats is a bit louder, but depends on the cat-back setup you have. not sure about stock. w/ borla it is loud but sounds great (i think you've heard my car... don't recall). with corsas it is REALLY loud.

just my .02...

V10speedluvr,
I have the exact same car as you and have just done all this.
1) The check engine light does not come on with a cat delete.
2) You will be running lean and backfiring on deceleration.
3) HP gain I never did measure, but it felt like there was gain.
The noise is what got me in the end, far too loud, and so after 2 weeks got some Random Tech 3” steel high flows from Jon B (he’s the man) and had them welded in today.
Now it still feels like a HP gain, sounds great, and the backfiring is now a nice burble.

From my experience this is the way to go. :2tu:

gts1998, you should not need simms. I just finished this on my 98 gts and have no issues without them.
