Schrader Valve Question

Just noticed that my schrader valve leaks when I remove the cap from it as if the little plunger is being depressed. It does not leak from the connection to intake manifold but on the very top. Is this normal? Me thinks No.

Sounds like the valve core is bad. Or needs to be tightened.

I saw that VPA has those valves...$30 or something like that.

IIRC there is a repair kit for that like a bike tube.

Found it on the VPA. Not sure how long the valve has been like this. Just noticed it as I was going to install a fuel gauge on it.

Hi Tony,
Is that fuel gauge install for a one-off test or are you permanently installing a pressure measuring instrument?
The reason I ask is because I have a pressure sender installed directly to the inlet manifold - no Shrader valve their at all.

I would not be concerned about it leaking a bit as long as the metal cap is tightly installed. Put some soap solution on one of your car stems and come back after a while. There might be a bubble there. That is not a sophisticated part those valves and they do leak. I use metal valve stem caps with the gaskets in them, on all my vehicle tires, for that very reason.
