Now that was easy, and cost near nothing. I only lowered the back. I'd say I went down at least 1.5 inches and kept the front back adjustment. I chose to leave the front up. I like the support under the thighs and by lowering my butt I still get clearance for my knees and helmet if I decide to use the top.

Used 3/16 stainless steel. Everything bolted into place. Guess I should have taken pics.....oh well.

I cut off the rear supports going to the rear bolts in the floor. I bent up 3/16 stainless steel to attach to the existing mechanism and just kept contouring the new support to get the seat as low as posible and still connect to the bolt in the floor. I traded off the amount i wanted to lower for a small decrease in rear travel, but I have more clearance for my body, feels good and that's what is important. I'll try to get pics.

you can do this with the stock bracket, just take the bend out of the bracket.

pull the seat out

put it top down on something that wont scratch it

looking at the braket on the bottom, you can see a bend in the rear of the braket, take a screw driver or small pry bar & bend it so its flat

you can get 1-1.5 inch lowering out of this FREE

Thanks Andrew, I understood the Mod. Lots of "I thought about it, well maybe" and talk. 4 bolts hold in the seat JUST do it. Even with full blown pics with arrows they'd want you to come over and do it for'em.

Raysir, so correct.

KepRght:

Are you sure about that? I actually put more of a bend into the bracket I made so the seat would sit lower.

Honestly I don't remember the old bracket bend. If it is bent downward, and you could straighten out even with the curled up edges on the metal, then you are correct. But I thought I remember the old bracket having been bent slightly up in which case straightening it out would have raised the seat. No matter, I don't know how you could re-bend that bracket with the way the metal comes up on each side. That creates an i-beam type component. To re-bend that existing bracket straight, you'd have to flatten out the edges and then I'm not so sure about the strength. That's why I went with 3/16 Stainless steel; almost double the thickness.

Whatever works............

Uh, I usually want to get a good idea of what I am doing before I bend/cut a part that costs hundreds of $ and is hard to find. Just 4 bolts and a hack saw. :p

Back to ?'s for those of us afraid to hack things up. How can you just bend the bracket without having the hole end up too far back?
