I gotta say it depends on what you are looking for...
Headers - even if they add 40-50 PEAK dyno hp - did not, in my opinion, result in any noticable seat-of-the-pants performance improvement. In fact, I don't think I'd do headers again unless they were coupled with other major flow mods. And since you are happy with the sound...
In my experience, only two mods have resulted in real exciting performance gains -
1. Changing to 3.45 gears (which made the car accelerate faster so it "seemed" faster, lowered ultimate top end and probably no difference in the quarter). Under $1000.
2. Roe S/C which turned the car into a real beast. $6500 (?) plus install ($0 if you are competent with a wrench). (I'm sure you could plug in paxton or DLM or...)
In the go-faster arena, I've done the two above plus K&N's, smooth tubes, VEC 1 (before the VEC 2 came with the SC), headers, exhaust, 1.7 roller rockers and aluminum flywheel - the Roe S/C being last in the list. And now that I've done them, the Roe S/C is probably the only one I'd do on a second car.
Please add usual plugs for driving schools - GREAT fun / value and more / better stopping power to balance go-faster parts. Done these too!
So to your original question, I'd say a qualified no...
