I'm very happy with my current power-n-sound (stock,B&B exhaust)but being a red-blooded Americn male,I'm looking for more.
I recall a previous post from a guy that picked up a whopping 11 hp with full exhaust upgrade....I would want more before embarking on this adventure.....any input?......thanks

Actually that B&B cat back will do you no good whatsoever. I think you should take it off and sell it to me since I am in the market for one...:)

No, really one of the reasons I like B&B is that they also manufacture a set of headers for their cat back systems with or without high flow cats. Call me OCD but I like matching up products of similar types.

don't expect much more than the 11hp if you add headers on a "stock" setup. It doesn't do much good on a creampuff letting more air out until you allow or force more air in. .02 cents.

anyone ever heard of these. click.

Hey jdawg, I guess every car is different, my car with no cats and cat back did 414 rwhp, 10k miles later and full ballenger system did 449 rwhp. they were diff. dynos, so the numbers might be off a little.

MY cream puff did 427/466 at 4000 miles.Cool damp crappy wet and humid day.Archer/Cdi headers,3" straight pipe to 3" corsa.Killer loud at WOT.Get a look at a set of "stock headers" with the kinks, dents and squashed tubes and you will throw them away on principle because they are so poorly made and ugly. I'll be the typical smart butt, "Search works great"...

and I say this for the simple fact that I created a post almost a year ago regarding this. I did a completed B&B exahust system and got 25hp and 25 tq. And that WAS WITH their high flow cats. So this 14 hp thing ?? hmm.. I wonder what was wrong with his set up. If you do headers, hi flow cats, and x pipe in the back, I am sure your results should be as good as my cream puff, I went up to 435hp and 475tq wtih B&B completed set up. Now go order it from Mike Adams, and you will get the best $ per Hp/Tq you can from any seller.

I gotta say it depends on what you are looking for...

Headers - even if they add 40-50 PEAK dyno hp - did not, in my opinion, result in any noticable seat-of-the-pants performance improvement. In fact, I don't think I'd do headers again unless they were coupled with other major flow mods. And since you are happy with the sound...

In my experience, only two mods have resulted in real exciting performance gains -

1. Changing to 3.45 gears (which made the car accelerate faster so it "seemed" faster, lowered ultimate top end and probably no difference in the quarter). Under $1000.

2. Roe S/C which turned the car into a real beast. $6500 (?) plus install ($0 if you are competent with a wrench). (I'm sure you could plug in paxton or DLM or...)

In the go-faster arena, I've done the two above plus K&N's, smooth tubes, VEC 1 (before the VEC 2 came with the SC), headers, exhaust, 1.7 roller rockers and aluminum flywheel - the Roe S/C being last in the list. And now that I've done them, the Roe S/C is probably the only one I'd do on a second car.

Please add usual plugs for driving schools - GREAT fun / value and more / better stopping power to balance go-faster parts. Done these too!

So to your original question, I'd say a qualified no...

Getting 25 to 30 hp on a header, hi-flo cats and catback(complete system) is quite normal. However, at best, IMO only about half would be gained by just the headers. So one can assume, or at least I do, that the 10 to at most 15 hp would be gained from headers only.

With a muffler delete and hi flo cats I dyno'd 426/466 on my 2001.

GTS Bruce 427/466 complete exhaust system, bu bad conditions

Prvt Jet 449 rwhp with complete exhaust system.

2002 Viper GTS ACR 435/475 complete exhaust system.

I will be getting a set of headers only because I now have a set of heads and cam in the car. Otherwise I don't think headers ALONE are worth it on a creampuff.
