SNEAKY PETE is missing his nostril

So I’ve had my Gen 1 about 2 months/2k miles now and when I drive it I often wonder why Sneaky Pete does not have a nostril. It is the only place that he does not have one. Is there a story/legend/tale about that?

Manufacturing limitation maybe? I could see scaling it down being an issue for the small emblem on the steering wheel vs the larger ones on the body. I'm not sure I ever would have noticed otherwise, but it is kind of interesting.
