Spoiler attachment question...

I bought my car with a bolt on front spoiler. (sorry, no pics) I am not sure of the make but I have seen it on a few Vipers. I will try and explain...It fits over the whole front lower lip and attaches to the inside of the front of the wheel wells. It comes completely around outside of the front corners and is about 2" off the ground. I am currently repainting the car and where it was mounted had scratches where it attached to the wheel wells and was actually slightly digging into the fiberglass. Does anybody have a cure or an idea to mount this without it causing damage to the new paint? I like the look but am concidering not re-installing it. I was thinking of some kind of rubber cushion at the point of contact???? Help with ideas! Thanks!

go to the hardware store and get yourself some rubber or plastic washers. use one or two behind each screw if the screw length can handle it. if it cant, you may have to get longer screws too. this will lift the part off the car slightly. should help in some places.

i do this one my race car all the time. it keeps the metal washers from digging into the new paint just fine.

Right on! Only mine does not have the little ducts on the lower valance, but that is it! Thanks! Any ideas???

The area that makes the contact is on the top side of the spoiler where the corner meets the front fender not so much where the screws attach on the inside. I believe I see what you are saying but wouldn't I still have contact on the outside of the front corner top of the fender where the spoiler meets it! Good info though and I will try anything!
