SRT\'s are taking a hit??

I personally like gen I and II Vipers and I am also biased since I have a B/W GTS, but my friend wants a SRT so I was looking thru the classifieds for one and ran into this one.

I told him that a good example with less then 20k would probably go for mid to high 50's for a good deal. This is for a 03-04 SRT. Anyway, I ran into this add and was very surprised. Why are SRT's dropping in $$ so fast.

The top's broken, it won't go down all the way. I wouldn't buy from a dealership that doesn't know how to put the top down!

Hmm,

that ebay auction is by someone who has only been on ebay for 7 months and their website has only be around for 30 days...

and if you read through the ebay auction it reads as if the buy it now price is $49,900 and you save $20,000 off book value.

And for some reason it does not appear that they know you open the trunk to stow the folding roof, the pictures make them look like fools with the top folded up against the trunk lid!

Seems off to me.

Every car depreciates. Like V10 says... this topic is getting old. All gen's rock.. while the red/whites rock a little more. :D

It'll sell for way more than $25k, but on a previous thread about that same car, someone said that carlot is known for selling wrecked and crappy vehicles. you might really wanna check that car out before you buy it

Anyone who believes an EBAY auction by a dealer, especially a dealer who does not know you have to raise the trunk to put the top down, actually tells us anything about price VALUE in the real world has a lot to learn.

That car has been ridden hard and put away wet. Thats why the price is low. They ran this same auction a few weeks ago and someone local took a look at the car, it had paint work everywhere. Hell, you can tell from the auction that the front bumper has been painted. Sure you can find a roachy 03 for 50, but you are not going to find a clean one with no stories for that money.

Re: SRT\'s are taking a hit??

I spent 2 months looking for my SRT/10. There's a lot of beat up crap out there. The only Gen III I ever saw with no curb rash was the one I ended up buying.

You can find Gen I & II for good prices as well if you don't mind a ragged out Viper, but if it clean and been cared for they'll can hold out for top dollar.

And yes, these topic is getting old, especially sense the Gen IV is on the way. IMO

He paid $58,500 and is very happy. He let me drive it this morning and its so
much easier to drive then my GTS!! I still take my GTS anyday but the brakes
of the SRT are just indredible when you compare them to the gen I and II.

Anyone that drives a Gen1/2 often enough will vividly recall their first OhSh!T moment when the brakes didn't work quite as expected. Mine involved 2 semi trucks and a disappointed grim reaper on the side of the road.

Heh, even with ABS, I slid 10 feet into an intersection here with my '01.
That car on Ebay has a very interesting Auto Check history, BTW.
I'm happy with my recent purchase, I'm just glad I've been fortunate enough to have enjoyed the Viper experience.

The Gen III is just a kinder, more gentler, machinegun hand:)
