Stock Knob Shifter

HELP, PLEASE! I also looked under how to's on this. I'm trying to remove my stock shifter knob. Replacing it with a new MGW knob. Been trying to get the lock nut loosen ( wd40 don't work), but with no luck. Just do not want to break the shifter. Is there a trick to getting the lock bolt loose?

GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just wasn't turning lock bolt hard enough.

I'm doing the same thing next week (MGW). So, it takes a lot of force to get the stock one off? Thanks

The stock lock nut is on there real tight. Just turn the lock nut hard clockwise with a 9mm amd whole the shifter with a 7mm.
