I just want to thank Jerry Dobson for his excellent work on my Viper! (Fixing my head gasket.) Jerry is one of the most anal people I have ever met. LOL PERFECT to work on my Viper. He is just meticulous about getting everything done the right way. There seriously isn’t anyone I would trust working on my Viper more than Jerry.

I also want to thank Brian, Chris, Mary, Joe, Kurt, Kurt’s dad, Jerry’s neighbor, and Jerry’s many girlfriends for keeping us entertained in the process.

It is a PERFECT example of how the VCA can benefit a member in need: Dan had a head gasket go bad on his '93. We worked hard to get him a full Mopar Gen I gasket set and managed to get it locally for $645 (or there abouts) from a friendly Dodge dealer. Jerry then threw off that mild-mannered Computer Geek by Day facade and unleashed his Master Mechanic skills to dazzle one and all. While he asked nothing in return, Dan was very generous and Jerry was compensated for his time and efforts beyond the normal "beer and pizza" we normally use as currency here.

The bottom line is that Dan is now back on the road with a car that is as strong as ever. As one of the single most enthusiastic owners in the world, we are glad to see that car buzzing around the streets of KC again!

Oh yeah, and here are a few pictures just to keep things interesting. First, the engine torn down in the friendly confines of Jerry's garage...

And we will even forgive Jerry for this sign in his garage (which most of you guys here will love):

Great to be part of a great club with such awesome fellow owners!

Jerry is anal....but that's why I've been patiently waiting in line to get mine in there for a few repairs and maintenance. I'd rather wait and know it's been done right instead of taking it somewhere else! He should actually quit his day job and open up a shop.....oh....I forgot that beer and pizza doesn't pay the bills! :D

Maybe there is enough money in the Kansas City VCA Budget to pay Jerry to be our full time mechanic??? Chris show Jerry the money!

Chad,

I ran across a sign company on the internet. I told him what I wanted and he made it and shipped it. I will look if I can find the web site.

The Story:

Some of the local guys headed to the drag strip on a Wednesday night. It was about 9:30 at night and my phone started ringing off the hook. I was in a meeting and could not answer. I suspected a track incident. I was correct, Dan's car was being towed home.

Dan is getting ready for his wedding and I knew that money was not growing on trees at his place. I offered to fix his car and not ask for any payment.

Dan knows how I work. Every nut and bolt is cleaned or replaced. Since I am not on the clock, I can work real slow and enjoy the repair.

Dan really came through in the end. He compensated me for all of my time and helped with the repair. Dan is a great car guy.

The motor was a little dirty by my standards when it arrived:

I use yellow 3m tape to mark all my disconnects

Here is the GEN I Thermostat Housing. This is the reason it is so hard to get to.

Heads back from the shop. Needed to be re-surfaced.

If a part came off the car, we cleaned it. Motor is now clean and runs like new.
