I called Chuck today to ask if any Vipers had a problem with a knocking noise under the center of the car. He said some do with higher miles(I have 18,000 miles). After asking him how to tear into the center console(which was easier than I thought) I checked out the metal that is welded to the center backbone of the frame. When the first owner drilled the rivits to install the B&M short shifter, it must have made the metal weaker because that is where the crack originated from. It was about a 3 inch crack in the metal. Chuck told me to drill a hole wear the crack stopped to stop the cracking and dimple the metal so they no longer touched together(Which caused the noise) and put some RTV on the crack. I did this and the noise went away! This was not part of the structural integrity of the car so welding was not needed. Thanks again Chuck. Keep up the good work!
