Well about the 5th viper owner that i know got his throtle stuck last night. Luckly he knew what to do and pushed the clutch in and turned the car off and barely made it throught the turn with out any powere stearing.

What do you guys think about this issue i hear its preatty common, especialy when i know 5 people that it has happend to.

Is there a fix for this?

What speed/gear was he in when it stuck? I get the occasional idle sticking, but never anything like WOT stuck while going 70 where I had to cluth and power down (scary ****). Granted I don't know a whole bunch of Viper owners, but I've never heard of throttle sticking at the rate you're talking about.

Maybe it's a regional thing?

Never heard of a throttle getting stuck on a Viper, either, and I know perhaps a hundred owners, many with multiple Vipers. Did any of the five people determine the cause of the sticking, and if so, what was it?

"I've never heard of that before. Check your floor mat. "

Echo that. happened to me a few weeks back, that stupid floor mat!! Had the pedals adjusted way up, which seems to drop the accel. pedal quite a bit.

OK, Maybe I can explain what is going on. This just happened to me yesterday. Fortunately I had a friend along and just after it happened he told me what I did and he was right. The pedals are set up strange on these cars. The accelerator pedal sticks up way higher than the break and clutch pedal. The accelerator pedal is very light in pressure. When you press on the break as hard as you do to stop the car you would not feel the accelerator pedal if you where simultaneously pressing on it with the same foot. If you ware a wide shoe, like I do. This will happen. Try wearing sneakers when you drive. You will catch yourself hitting the accelerator at the same time as the break with your right foot. As you notice the rev of the engine is not high. It is only as high as far as you push the accelerator down to the same level as the break to stop the car. If you noticed you pushed the clutch in quickly the engine went up in rpm due to no load on the motor but as soon as you lifted your feet up the engine came down to idle. You did not even have to snap the accelerator. Again this proves it's a drivers error. Sorry guys we are not perfect. Be careful of this. I almost rear ended a car due to this.

The other thing that sticks is if you install smooth tubes and the silicone hoses stick out ever-so-slightly and contact the throttle plate adjustment bar. This is worse w/ 70mm TB's but still prone w/ regular smooth tubes. check by hand to make sure the throttle plates can cleanly open and close (use your finger and watch/feel if it catches). I've seen this happen many-a-time this way.

Thats why I wear real simpson driving shoes in the viper.Soft narrow bottom makes it easy to feel the pedals. With sneaks on I can hardly tell what pedal I'm on.They are made to run in,lessen impact and give me almost no pedal feel at all.I take a pair of sneaks or whatever to walk around in with because a real driving shoe makes for a terrible walking shoe. Good advice, but most of us would look like prima donna dweebs if we switched shoe getting in and out of the Viper. :D

I call B S on the 5 stuck Vipers................

I don't know if I would call [******]. I am sure each of the 5 people really thought the throttle stuck. If it did or didn't is another story.

Thats the weirdest thing i tell you. I dont think those 5 are making up the same story. If it is true i would love to fix the problem and prevent my throtle sticking on my car.
