What are the top few things to get for a new SRT-10?

1. Something to address the Mr. Microphone shifter - what options are there?
2. Floormats - Northern California VCA sell? Others good?
3. What else?

Slaughter,

You should check out MGW Ltd, they have a nice shifter, made a big difference for me.

Since, I see you have a Corsa on your '98 then you should also get a Corsa for your SRT10.

I'm not seeing how anything on the MGW site that addresses the height and how their product fixes this though, so what does MGW's shifters do for the SRT-10 and what's involved in changing them?

Wow, a lot of work for that - I did the Rich Detert shifter shaft replacement myself, but this is a bit more involved. How much was the Hurst shifter setup?

1. Shorten the shifter. Switching to the MGW knob will shorten it a little, better is the Mopar-Hurst shifter.
2. Add MGW goodies like trim rings, cupholder ring.
3. 3.55 gears.
4. Replace RBQ radio with RB1 nav unit, adding satellite radio at the same time.

Wow Terry, you're going wild! (Yep, got one!)

BTW, what's the fix for the damned seat belt alarm?! That's aggravating! I understand they want you to be protected when the car is on, etc., but if I have to unbuckle to get out my wallet at the drive-thru or toll booth, it's frickin' annoying to hear that ringing!

We actually have 2 different height knobs for the srt10. below is a picture that shows how they compare to stock.

the standard offers a nice reduction in both throw and looks and can be used with the stock bezel which is pretty tall. ( the round thing around the base of the knob leather boot)

the shorty gripper is VERY low and offers really nice flick shifts but you must buy our low profile bezel in order to use it or you will smash your knuckles when shifting :(

Thanks for the info, that helps a lot! I didn't see that on the site though, maybe hard to find, or I was just too quick about it?

Also, I see no instructions on the site for installation, what's involved?

BTW, does the low profile bezel look the same (if selected as satin) as the stock one?

For those with the exhaust, did you not need to get cats as well?

DEFINITELY go with the MGW "shorty" shift knob for the easiest adjustment to shifter height. I disliked the stock shift knobs on every Viper from 1999 on and it was the very first mod I made on my first Viper. I actually showed up for our first Kansas City VCA meeting (6/99) with nothing more than an MGW shift knob - my Viper wouldn't be built for another four months... :2tu:

Here is the shorty in my VCA SRT:

Very highly recommend those that want a short throw without the work of modifying the stock shaft or installing a new shift kit.

Great post I am also new to the Viper brotherhood and picked up some good tips for my car and yes sounds to me like Terry has gone wild and made some nice mods.
