Legend has it that Bobby Archer and Freddy Baker (maybe I will go faster if I add a Y to my name too) both ran 1:37's at Mid Ohio this year in SCCA T1 prepared Vipers...that's the new track record/

Not rumor,but fact. Archer definitely broke the record and though Baker was slightly slower I believe he was in the 1:37's also.Prior record was held by Jeff Altenburg, also in a Viper.
Actually one of the guys that should reap some major kudos, is Rick Kaplan. Running essentially a mildly modified Red GTS, Kaplan ran a blistering 1:38.409 which was almost equal to the old fastest time. He ran this during the Michelin Challenge Series at Mid-Ohio and I believe the only changes to his car ( from stock ) was a Borla catback, K&N's & smooth tubes, 3.54 gears, and short shift kit. Not positive on all those items , but with just a few changes and Hoosier Tires, Rick was sub light speed this year.
