under hood cables

I was just curious to know what the two cables under the hood are for. They are located in the back, under the front hood, there is one one the left and one on the right side.

there is a "metal" foil pad (for lack of a better word) that is part of the underhood pad to help disipate ignition "noise" that would other wise be heard through the radio. The two straps that you see are actually ground wires from the pad to metal parts of the car.
