Did anyone ever come up with a cover to keep the water out of the Vec II? I heard awhile back someone had a velcro cover made.

The last email I got from him was early in July as he was helping me with my tuning. He's spending the summer up in Maine but when I last talked to him I got the impression he was done here. Hopefully we'll hear from him soon.

I guess I will have to have one made, does anyone have a good picture of the VecII with dimensions so I can send it over to a Leather shop Via e-mail, my camera is not working or I would take a picture of mine.
thanks

I have been using microwaveable shrink wrap. Works perfectly, but looks like crap. The nice looking one's that Ive seen begin as some version of tupperware.

We've been wondering what to use also, as we figured the VECII should also be covered, what with the card reader being exposed and all....thanx for suggestions. ~juli~

I've been toying with a waterproof box that snugly holds the Vec in place and an integrated PC fan cooler to draw out heat from the unit. I should have it all assembled in about a week. I'll post pics as soon as I have a prototype ready.

I'm sure there are / will be some elaborate set ups for this purpose........I did something quite simple which cost basically nothing.

One 2" wrap of paper towel around the connector ends...followed by a wrap of electrical duct seal (the paper towel keeps the duct seal from sticking on the connector if you need to take them apart)........followed by a wrap of 33+. Keeps all the cables bundled nicely out the back of the VEC. Looks fine to me. Another 6" piece of 33+ covers the card slot perfectly. We have probably driven in worse weather(many times) than most with VEC units. So far no problems whatsoever. 20,000 miles.

Thank you Steve...yeah, you being in Michigan/same as here in Upstate NY....driving in bad weather...we try not to, of course...but you know how that is!! Thanx for the suggestions....we may have to try something, I do want that card reader covered. You have more miles than we have on ours...good to hear no problems as of yet! THX! ~juli

ALL OVER
i only had ONE problem in the 4 years ive been washing my engine. and i wash it almost everytime i drive it. the fix was to open it and blow some air thru it and it was fine (thanx to tators help)

so im not really sure why people really worry.

and im pretty sure the GEN 1's have the opening facing where its even easier to get water in and nobody ever talks of problems.

so WHY WORRY ???
