DODGE paid for and set up in coord with our IL VCA 3rd annual Parade Lap at the Famous Nascar Tropicana 400(chicago motor speedway). Our President Bill, along with many other VCA officials and friends worked hard to put the package together!I thankyou guys.
Now i'd like to personally thank and CHOKE the individual or team of Nascar/chicago motor speedway officials that cut a promissed Parade Lap into a 500yrd 5mph bullsh!T deal.Dodge should stop payment on that check. We drove/jockeyed our vipers around for hours pushing the cooling system to the limit for Jack poop.
There could only be two reasons for this BS:eek:ne is their embarrassed that some of our vipers could kick the crap out of those plasic cups, and two, anyone in or dealing with Nascar has an IQ less than 50.
I had an awesome Tropicana 400 run myself on the way up and back, enjoyed VCA hospitality and good people(VCA).How bout that B52 bomber that made a couple runs over the track, just screaming cool!
Those of you who are Nascar fans, sorry we can't be friends!I just don't get it!
Peace TOOOFST

During the channel 4 pre race report, I saw many vipers rolling off the track past the pit area.

Looked cool.

Sorry you did not get more track time

I've yet to go on a superspeedway parade lap that wasn't a ripoff. I guess they think they're doing us a big favor just letting us on their precious tracks.

The Champ Car race in Toronto had a red gen 2 GTS as the pace/safety car. That looked pretty cool.

Sorry about the cheap laps. You were cheated.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Next Saturday night the Gateway Viper Club has been invited to take a parade lap or two around the Gateway National Oval prior to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Race. Thanks for helping to set my expectations. I'm still looking forward to it and it will be good exposure for our Viper club.

It was a GREAT time! :2tu:

The Illinois VCA really does it right with everything they do!!

If anyone noticed behind the VCA during the parade lap were our little brothers from the ChicagolandSRTClub with their SRT-4s!

Whomever runs Nascar/chicago motor speedway told our Pres.Bill, they were afraid of rain and had to get us off the track. Those lying hillbillies.Never rained, wasn't supposed to till late night. We weren't allowed to use A/C because of the danger of water/oil on track, well understood. No Burnouts either.Should those half excuse for a race car organization apply those rules to THEIR OWN STAFF?One of their pickups stopped in front of the vipers and half way on track to squeal tires backing up and turning around windows closed air on!
Casey,Yes best part is hanging a quality group!

A few years ago I drove 70mph through rain on I-4 to do a parade lap around Daytona. By the time I got to Daytona the rain was reduced to an occasional sprinkle. They said because it was raining we wouldn't be able to go fast. Boy was that an understatement. The lady leading the pack took us around at 5mph or LESS - no lie. Everybody was pissed.

TOOFAST, It was good talking with ya at the event :2tu: Definitely a bummer not being able to do a flyin lap :( , but the rest of the event and hanging out with everyone helped overlook it. I still wonder if they got riled up because we all got out of our cars and climbed the bank? I don't think it's any big deal doing what we did, but you know how touchy a huge political organization like Nascar and the Joliet Speedway can get. Maybe they were afraid we would scuff the track with some Nike rubber

Rain  Maybe in Iowa. Sounds like a cover up to what the real excuse was.

Here's some pics and vids we took:

Sr. drove the SVS Stryker with me in the passenger seat down to Joliet. Driving on the highway with a 2 speed auto is like driving your Viper in 4th gear (since 2nd gear in the auto is a 1:1 ratio) at 3500-4000 rpm without being able to shift. A little loud and grueling.

Driving to the Tropicana 400

We met at Nicor, which was close to the track and then left with a police ****** to the Joliet Speedway infield. The 60 Vipers, 20 SRT-4's and SRT-10 Pickups looked awesome coming into the infield. So many people were cheering for the Vipers!

Had lunch, walked the infield, talked Vipers and racing and went out for the parade lap. It wasn't a flying lap and we only cruised by the stands and through the Media at the start finish. It was still cool to be out there anyway watching people cheer for the cars.

Came back into the pits and got ready for the start of the race. A few of the crew guys from different teams came over and checked out the Stryker TT.

Had an awesome day and wish I had everyone else's pics to go through and add more. The Viper owners, The SRT-4 club and everyone at the track were really cool to hang out with.

Scott, I was going to join you this year but had reservations about it(plus my Viper was in the shop anyways) I remember last year they made you guys keep the speed way down which is an understatement. Then when I saw you guys only do 1/2 a lap at 5mph I thought to myself how stupid! I realize a lot of that has to do with insurance but come on. Even people in the audience were disappointed with the speed and a couple of comments were even made about how it should have been 2 wide and not single file. I agree with you Scott. By the way, I don't know what you call it because I don't have Nitrous, but I like the purges you did at the start/finish line.....nice!
