You would think I would know better the answer to this question, but I might be missing something, so I thought I would ask those that have had their cars already.

I am trying to think of those things I MUST have ready for my Viper when it arrives here shortly.

So here is all I can think of, without going mod crazy:
1. One of those front License Plate holders, since I live in Chicago, IL (required) (Where to get??)
2. Chin guard, do the gen 3's have them like the gen 2's ? Thats the 2nd worst sound you can hear in a viper, your chin scraping. 1st would be a crumpling of body panels. (Where to get??)
3. Anything else to protect the car, or make it more usable?
4. Set of ****** rims, that I can drive around on, and not ruin my pimpsters that come with the car. (Ideas??)
5. Lowering caps to drop the height, BUT since I live in Chicago and these roads are horrible, I dont think its wise to drop the car at all, or risk chin scrapes. (thoughts??)
6. Another stock late gen 2, or Gen 3 shift knob, so I can trim it down to a shorty shaft and not do any damage to my original. (anyone have one they arent using??)
7. Boost is a nice to have, but I moved it up to a must have, so Woodhouse is endulging me in that desire, but really isnt a must have. :)

What else??

Thx.

If you are supercharging the vehicle, have Woodhouse also modify the suspension and corner balance the car. The supercharger adds 70 pounds to the front of the car. The suspension mod, as I and FloridaChris have mentioned previously, is well worth the money whether you choose to lower the car or not. I only lowered mine one half of one inch and I have not had any bottoming issues.

The modified shift mechanism offered by Woodhouse works well and is a good buy.

Other useful mods are available at Woodhouse and I highly recommend that you speak to Mark Jorgensen about them. Mark is very knowledgeable and will be able to answer any questions that you may have in the context of your particular driving style and needs. He did so with me on a very detailed basis.

Good luck. Stay safe. Have fun.

Hey Jon,
I got your number 1-4 from JonB and I know he has ****** rims and probably a stock shifter.

Here's the deal, you may not realize it, but you really helped me out with the thread you ran last year with pictures on the low cost short shifter you made after your dad "stole" yours from the GTS, if my memory serves correctly. Anyway, I don't know if there is a poor relationship between you and JonB or care to know about it; my experiences with him have been very good and knowing that I can come off like an @#$%@ sometimes, he certainly holds no grudges. So I feel obligated to help a Viper Bro out that is a good son to his dad like mine is to me.

I will request a quote and order the parts for you, pay for them, have them drop shipped to you or have them shipped freight free from me until the two of you feel a direct relationship is possible if it's not now. This is a serious offer. The only caveats are that we don't shop or cherry pick him. He has always been more than fair and even if you find something a few dollars less elsewhere, his service makes up for it or he will make it up on the next order. When you receive the parts and you are satisfied, drop a check in the mail to me for the amount not including any freight from me to you. if there is a problem with the parts or service, including mine, we keep it private among the parties, you, JonB, me. If I somehow end up screwing you, I'm fair game to be flamed across these forums. How's that?

Life's to short and anyone that has a son that is as close as you are to your dad had to do an extraordinary job raising you. Happy Fathers Day Jon.

lol, Mark Jorgensen and I have definitely chatted, a couple of times already, only problem is, when I talk to him, my mod list gets longgggggggger and longer. lol, they have tons of must have mods, but I'm trying to be reasonable on what I really need. Boost was one of them :) , the oil pan pick up, the motons and 4 corner balance, the race logic traction control, etc, all worthy mods, but something I will indulge myself with later. Thanks for the reply.

Yep, we do. (I almost put "where can I get this besides John B.", but thought that would bring up another love/not-love argument and starting a thread like that was not my intention, nor is it now).

Couple of things on this one, 1st, THANK YOU. That came out of no where, I was quite plesantly suprised that someone was willing to help me like that who didnt know me. I am often boysterous and sometimes a PIA, but one thing I believe I have always been is honest. So while your solution to addressing my questions 1-4 simply Wows me that you would be willing to go through the hassle of something like that, I feel I must respect Jon B's decision to not sell to me, even if it is indirectly in this case. After all, I forced his hand on that one, by calling him out on a poorly placed "jab" he did to me in one of my older threads.

And yes, I am that guy who took all those photos, and posted the how-to on the short shift knob, because pops stole mine, and I had to make another anyways, so why not share on how-to-do it. Glad it helped you.

Larry, one last Thank you, and Happy Fathers day to you too (and All other DADS!!). I will pass the sentiment on to my father, who just happens to be asleep in my spare bedroom tonight, after traveling from NC to come see me. hmmmm isnt it the kids who are supposed to travel to see their parents on their special days?? ;) It also happens to be his birthday this weekend, so I need to do something nice for him. lol, hope he isnt expecting something as nice as last years Christmas Gift.

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads !! :2tu: :2tu:

If you plan to drive the car, do not have dipolmatic immunity, or have a lawyer on retainer, cruise control is the only way to avoid losing your license.

I was sniped (instant on radar traps) 6 times on a cross country trip (IA to NH), and if my speed hadn't been locked in at 5-10 over the limit I'd be walking now. There is no way I could hold the speed down to a no ticket level during each way of a 1300 mile drive.

Thanks VD, yeah, good point on the shifter, can get one from summit. Course you are talking about a ripper shifter, and I was talking about a stock shift knob. But I liked the B&M when i had it in my gen 2, so good reminder to order one for the gen 3.

SweetRed04, its not that bad.. lol, I have put over 60,000 miles on/in Vipers and have never gotten a ticket. So cruise control would be nice, but not that big of a deal 4 me. Thx.

Pretty impressive list of poser mods.

All I want is 3-way adjustable shocks, monoballs and more HP. If there is an issue with cost they can strip out some of those precious creature comforts.

Boost is a poser mod, so noted. Thanks for the insight

1 outta 7. Good point. I stand corrected. Very impressive list of 1 performance mod.

I think what really irks Jon is when people call him up and pretend to be interested in buying something from him. They talk for an hour or so, pick Jon's brain, get his prices, then instead of ordering the items, hang up the phone, and use his information and pricing to shop other places.

Now I know they just think they are being clever, and can scam Jon out of valuable information, then get a lower price elsewhere, but I bet it gets real old...real quick.

No need for Jon to chime in here. His time is more valuable sourcing all the great Viper parts we all need to make our snakes even better.

Now I understand competition is good, and that price shopping keeps everyone's prices in line, but sometimes it is just vendor abuse. (no wonder he gets cranky some times).

Paul, this was nice commentary and all, but this isnt about Jon and Jon's differences, and rest assured, your statement was not directed towards me, because I never shopped around on Jon, his prices are pretty damn good. And his file on me shows a nice history of buying. We just have personality conflicts, thats it, never felt like Jon cheated me out of anything, or that he was a bad guy, just rude to me at times, and wasnt a fan of it. Again, I asked this not turn into THAT thread, I'd rather we stay on course if you dont mind.

Thank you.

Jon, when are you picking this thing up?

Its getting delivered by Woodhouse. Its going to take them a few days to add PSI's and the car was supposed to have arrived yesterday (Saturday). So I am hopefull it will be in my hands by the end of the month.

Wanna dip down into the United States and check out a boosted coupe?
